As for when to use DeNoise AI, consider how noise is affected by your editing.

I left some noise in as otherwise the skin tones look like something out of a wax museum. sharpening is not needed, like what you would find in Lightroom or Photoshop. The first is straight out of the camera with whatever default adjustments Lightroom gave it, the second is the same file with Denoise applied. You can adjust the noise removal using two basic sliders to remove noise and sharpen. It automatically gets rid of digital noise in grainy areas while preserving the detail. Here's a pretty good example of what Denoise AI can do. Eliminate noise while recovering real detail to get the best possible image quality in your high-ISO and low light photos. Topaz Denoise AI Topaz DeNoise AI is the best noise reduction software when putting all its features together. I expect if they add Denoise to Photoshop as a function, they will port it into Lightroom as an expansion to allow it to denoise files other than raw. Topaz DeNoise is far more effective at removing noise artifacts than Lightroom, Photoshop, and other general photo-editing software, which require you to fiddle with sliders and don’t produce as. I'm hoping for a Denoise adjustment layer when Photoshop 2023 is released out of Beta, but will be happy if they include it as a stand alone step that can be applied any time during post processing in Photoshop. Right now it only works on raw files, which is great for Lightroom users who shoot raw, but once the file is opened in Photoshop, Denoise AI is no longer an option, and it is never an option for other file types. This is a function I expect Adobe will add pretty soon. If the first part is Topaz Denoise AI, it works on TIFF files as well.
